Thanks for letting me know!

Thank you for letting me know that you’d like to see me create videos related to productivity apps. There are TONS of apps out there in the productivity space – to do list apps, project management apps, calendar apps, email apps, habit-tracking apps – so I’m not committing to creating videos for those apps as part of my TimeCraftingTV content strategy for a number of reasons:

  1. Apps change radically and regularly. I remember right after putting the finishing touches on a book I’d co-written on Asana that the app’s entire interface was changed. We had to go back in and edit the entire thing. Not fun.
  2. Making a video for an app can seem like a sponsored video. I’ve done a few of these in the past (even my Skillshare class has appeared as such to some – although it isn’t) and I want to steer clear of that going forward. Why? Because I think it’s more important to focus on the app within. Making videos for apps can appear to fly in the face of that adage.
  3. This circles back to the first point but I don’t want to have to worry about a video being out of date when something in an app changes – or if the app goes under.

Now that doesn’t mean I don’t see the value in video tutorials and trainings for apps. I’m just not interested in having them on my TimeCraftingTV YouTube channel.

Here are some great YouTube channels that you should check out if you want to watch videos related to productivity apps:

All of those channels do a great job shining a spotlight of different productivity apps and tools.

But back to what I am going to do about videos for apps…

My plan is to integrate videos for and about apps – including trainings, tutorials, and the like – in the TimeCrafting Trust membership community. I’ll be spending plenty of time there creating mini-courses, live trainings, and more so it makes sense to create videos around apps in there based on what members want and need to help them craft their time with different apps and tools.

You can join TimeCrafting Trust here.

Thanks again for your feedback.

See you later,
