You might have heard this quote before:
“Time is a created thing. To say ‘I don’t have time,’ is like saying, ‘I don’t want to.” – Lao Tzu
Time is an objective measure of the duration of events and the progression of the universe. It is a fundamental concept that is integral to our understanding of the world around us.
The concept of time is often used to measure the urgency of a situation and drive action. When we are aware of the limited amount of time we have, we tend to prioritize tasks and activities that need to be completed quickly. This sense of urgency often leads us to prioritize short-term goals over long-term ones and to focus on the immediate needs of the present rather than the potential benefits of the future.
But this focus on urgency can also have negative consequences.
When we are constantly driven by the need to complete tasks quickly, we may neglect the importance and purpose of those tasks. We may become so focused on getting things done that we lose sight of the bigger picture. This could lead us to neglect the long-term implications of our actions. This can lead to a lack of purpose and meaning in our lives, making it difficult to achieve our goals.
Ultimately, it is important to find a balance between urgency and purpose. That way we can make the most of the time we have while we have it. Or, perhaps, while time has us.
