My First Great New Thing: The Mikes on Mics Podcast

I’ve made mention of this in passing, but I believe it is time to share this in what I consider to be a more expansive form: A post of at least 500 words.
My first great new thing is the new podcast I’ve started with Michael Schechter called Mikes on Mics. While my colleague has already laid it out eloquently on his own site, I’ll offer up the skinny here as well:

Mikes on Mics is a weekly podcast featuring Mike Vardy of Vardy.me and Mike Schechter of A Better Mess. We look to explore productivity, technology and how it connects to our lives. Episodes will not only cover the tech, tools and workflows that we use to accomplish our goals, but “The Mikes” always want to strive to take things a step further. We believe that the essentials are important, yet we want to go beyond the “how” and examine the “why.” Why does productivity still matter? Why are we driven to dive deep into the subject? And most important of all, what is relevant to you, our listeners.

We’ve started to explore the depths of what we’re going to talk about, including various guests and segments we’re going to bring on board.1 I’m really excited about being able to have a regular conversation with someone who is as into productivity and technology as much as I am – and is a fellow father to young kids to boot.

What does this mean for my old podcast, ProductiVardy? Well, it means that I’m going to make a shift with it, likely going to a weekly episode that may or may not be an exclusive I offer to certain readers. Honestly, I’m not even sure yet.2 But I’ll let you know when I am.

Here are the various ways you can be part of the Mikes on Mics podcast:

  1. Subscribe in iTunes. Leave a review and a rating. Maybe you dig what we’re saying. Maybe you are as blown away by our branding (courtesy of Aaron Mahnke’s Wet Frog Studios) as we are. Maybe you’re a dad and a nerd like us and we’re resonating with you like no other podcast has. Let us – and the world – know. The more ratings and reviews we get, the easier it will be for folks to find us. And we want to be found.
  2. Subscribe in another podcast aggregator. Here’s the base feed. Go nuts. Use Castroller or gPodder or whatever you want. Slam the feed into Instacast. You can still take us with you without getting into iTunes, and that feed link is the best way to make sure you don’t miss an episode while doing so.
  3. Leave a comment on the website. We love ‘em. Can’t get enough of ‘em. We’ll answer ‘em, too. Just you watch. Whether you leave it on a per episode basis or every once in a while, we’d love to hear your feedback.
  4. Contact us. Here’s our Twitter page. We’d love to hear from you as directly as possible, and this is really the best way to do just that.
  5. Sponsor the podcastnetwork. We’d love to hear from you even more in this case. you’ll get a lot of exposure and a personal touch to go along with it.

So that’s my first great new thing.3 I hope that Mikes on Mics becomes a regular part of your podcasting diet.

1Guests are being contacted, segments are being planned. The one constant segment: “What Are The Mikes Drinking?”
2If you’ve got ideas, I’d love to hear ‘em.
3I’ve got another great new thing coming at you within a week. Stay tuned.
