The Unwritten Weekend

This past weekend was spent resting, recharging, recovering and simply doing very little. In fact, not a word was written during the last couple of days. I usually offer an article per day over the weekend – and 2 on Fridays, no less – but I didn’t do that this past weekend.

It’s not that I didn’t have anything1 to say or suggest. It’s that I spent the time steeling myself for the week ahead. And I hadn’t done that in a while.

So while I’m writing my first post of the week to somewhat exonerate myself for my lack of writing in the past couple of days, there’s really no need. Sometimes it’s best to hit the brakes when you need to in order to make sure you don’t crash into anything. After all, if you keep going at full speed with anything, you’re bound to lose control at some point.

It was cool to do absolutely nothing on Saturday. And it was even cooler to spend 3 hours doing random bits of nothing with my family on Sunday, a day when I normally work.

Sometimes throwing in a bit of the unplanned makes all the planned stuff work better — and more worthwhile.

I know I feel better having thrown some of it in this past weekend.

1Wow. That originally said “nothing” instead of “Anything”, but Ken Bole caught me napping on that one. Apparently I didn’t have “nothing” gramatically correct to say. Sheesh. Thanks for calling me on that, Ken.
